Thanks to all who came by our table on Saturday and picked up a copy of Chimpanzee Democracy, if you’ve stopped by looking for more of the same I’m afraid my update schedule has been non-existent for a while. But bolstered by good sales at the weekend I’ve resolved to swing back into action and actually put a  new design on the site.

Here we present for your entertainment the most popular strip ever to grace our obscure little corner of the internet. Not because of any intrinsic value of our work, you understand, but merely because people were interested in Fanboys.

Of course, the story is pretty much over now. The studio acquiesed and allowed the original director to reedit the movie (albeit with just 36 hours to get the job done), and it was eventually given an (extremely limited) release. In the US. So no, I still haven’t seen it.

Although the form it currently exists in is as near as it was ever likely to get to the original idea, evidence of studio interference is still present (presumably the “going for some of that Judd Apatow money” tactic), and the movie has met with a rather mixed response.

One wonders how the film would have fared if it had emerged according to its original script – a zero budget dialogue heavy comedy in the vein of Clerks. With its built in audience it would have certainly made more money than the current version. Something to think about, Hollywood. Next time come to webcomics creators and people who post on Aint It Cool News for advice!

Rest assured, our archive will be available to view in no time at all. While you’re waiting, here’s a stupid comic, made of pure LIES.

However, something did come out of this discussion. Behold our new direction:

Making its (London) debut is Chimpanzee Democracy, a new 32 page all colour collection of Flying Monkey Comics Webstrips, complete with ruminations on scientific discovery, cultural commentary and completely unnecessary abuse towards Justin Lee Collins. The super special convention price of £1.50 represents ridiculous good value, especially in the “current climate”.

There are also severely limited numbers of the epochal “small press” comic Flying Monkey, that started the whole thing. Check out our first faltering steps into the medium of comics, back when we were armed only with a photocopier, comic sans font, a pritt stick, and wild ambition. Yes they’re a bit shit, but amusing, and well worth the discount bargain bin price of 50p each. You’ll also be able to pick up one of our perenially popular Tasty T-Shirts at £5 a pop, ideal for covering nipples and showing everyone that you’re a badass (not guaranteed). 

Finally we have the usual stack of Hope for the Future back issues at the recession shafting price of 50p each, and the premium edition deluxe Hope for the Future collected editions, at a special convention price of £6.
