Here we present for your entertainment the most popular strip ever to grace our obscure little corner of the internet. Not because of any intrinsic value of our work, you understand, but merely because people were interested in Fanboys.
Of course, the story is pretty much over now. The studio acquiesed and allowed the original director to reedit the movie (albeit with just 36 hours to get the job done), and it was eventually given an (extremely limited) release. In the US. So no, I still haven’t seen it.
Although the form it currently exists in is as near as it was ever likely to get to the original idea, evidence of studio interference is still present (presumably the “going for some of that Judd Apatow money” tactic), and the movie has met with a rather mixed response.
One wonders how the film would have fared if it had emerged according to its original script – a zero budget dialogue heavy comedy in the vein of Clerks. With its built in audience it would have certainly made more money than the current version. Something to think about, Hollywood. So at long last I finally saw Fanboys. But is it actually any good? http://www.hftf.co.uk/?p=1309
